If you find a turtle that is not native to your state it may be a lost pet. Check with your neighbors to see if they are missing one. You may want to put up a few fliers, or check with your local pet shop, veterinarian office, or local Wildlife Center.
If you are unable to locate the turtle's owner please do not release the turtle. Turtle Homes will be happy to help you find placement. If the turtle appears ill or if you are unsure if it is ill, press the yes button and follow the links until you are satisfied with the information.
